Francisco Relvas, an officer of the New York City Police Department honor guard, rings the ceremonial bell six times as part of the 9/11 25th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony Sept. 11, 2026, at the 9/11 Memorial Plaza in New York. The six rings represent the times of the four plane crashes and the falls of both World Trade Center towers. The U.S. Army remains deeply committed to honoring the lives lost on Sept. 11 and the extraordinary courage of the military and civilian personnel who responded immediately at the Pentagon and Ground Zero. The immediate response and evolution of Army capabilities in the aftermath of Sept. 11 forged a generation of adaptive leaders and modern warfighters who form the foundation of today’s Joint Force. More than 300,000 U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers have deployed in support of the Global War on Terror following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. 1st Class Ryan Rayno)
