U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Andrew Ayala, 2d Theater Signal Brigade, carries the brigade's guidon up the stairs during the 2,200 stairs challenge, September 11, 2026, at USAG Wiesbaden, Germany. The event was held in remembrance of those first responders who paid the ultimate price on 9/11. The 2,200 stairs represent the 110 stories of the World Trade Center towers that FDNY firefighters ascended during the rescue efforts. September 11, 2026, marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. (U.S. Army photo by Candy Knight)
