    Leadership from Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, Europe, Africa, Central, the U.S. Air Force’s 496th Air Base Squadron, and construction contractor Eiffage Group cut a grand opening ribbon during a ceremony for a new airfield readiness facility at Morón Air Base, Spain, July 28, 2026. The new $25.3 million facility will store and protect critical airfield damage repair equipment valued at $48 million. NAVFAC EURAFCENT supports fleet commanders by providing engineering assessments and agile acquisition strategy, constructing and maintaining shore infrastructure, and maximizing force readiness to enhance warfighter capability. The U.S. military partnership with Spain increases joint and Allied agility and readiness by providing the capability to safely and securely refuel, repair, rearm, and resupply vessels and aircraft.
