Jack Reed (D-RI), the ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, stressed the importance of technological innovation as warfare continues to evolve, during the 2026 Blue Technology In-Water Demonstration Event (BlueTIDE) held at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island, on Aug. 27, 2027. BlueTIDE, a two-day industry-focused event sponsored by the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport's Northeast Tech Bridge, connects innovative businesses with U.S. Navy scientists and engineers to facilitate rapid delivery of new capabilities to the warfighter.
