    Angolan Armed Forces Lt. Col. Jânio Nuno Teixeira da Costa, orthopedic surgeon, participates in a subject-matter-expert exchange between U.S. Army Reserve medical professionals and Angolan Armed Forces during the Angola Medical Readiness Exercise at Hospital Militar Principal, Luanda, Angola, Sept. 8, 2026. The exchange focused on sharing medical knowledge, discussing trauma care practices and procedures, and strengthening interoperability between U.S. and Angolan military health professionals. The Angola MEDREX enhanced the medical readiness and capabilities of U.S. and Angolan military medical personnel. The exercise involved a team of 10 U.S. Army Reserve medical professionals with the 915th Forward Resuscitative Surgical Detachment, 313th Hospital Center, 2nd Medical Brigade, and was planned and executed by U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF).
