A solemn military dignified transfer or memorial ceremony is taking place inside a large hangar facility. A flag-draped casket is being carried by pallbearers down a corridor formed by two rows of standing military personnel, including both U.S. Army soldiers in OCP (Operational Camouflage Pattern) uniforms and German Bundeswehr soldiers in their distinctive flecktarn camouflage. A lead soldier walks ahead of the casket procession while personnel on both sides render salutes.

U.S. Air Force Maj. Bryan Fox, 86th Airlift Wing Ramstein Chapel chaplain, leads a simulated dignified transfer formation during the third iteration of the U.S. European Command NATO and Partner Religious Affairs Care for the Dead and Dying Subject Matter Exchange at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Sept. 2, 2026. The training enabled participants to share and strengthen best practices while building foundational capabilities related to dignified transfers, memorialization and pastoral care. The three-day exchange included in-class and field-based scenarios that honed religious readiness for wounded and fallen service members in large-scale combat scenarios, enhancing Allied and partner interoperability.
