JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON (Sept. 3, 2026) – U.S. Army Maj. Benjamin Dixon, director, Research Services, Naval Medical Research Unit (NAMRU) San Antonio, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal by Commanding Officer Capt. Michael Tiller during an All Hands meeting held at the Battlefield Health and Trauma Research Institute. From August 2023 to August 2026, Dixon provided expert consultation, collaboration, and research support to both intramural and extramural investigators. His contributions resulted in research advancements with the potential to greatly benefit the health and performance of the warfighter. NAMRU San Antonio, part of Navy Medicine Research & Development, conducts gap-driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research in support of Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighter health readiness and lethality while engaged in routine and expeditionary operations.
