The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Chicago District, alongside federal, state, and local partners, completed modernization improvements without disrupting the Gary/Chicago International Airport's service to the region. Funded largely through Section 219 of the Water Resources Development Act, the infrastructure upgrades support the airport's expanding cargo footprint and regional logistics capabilities.
