A Sapper Leadership Course student charges a CD 450-J ignition device during rehearsal for the urban demolition range, July 24, 2013. The device, also called a “j-box,” is a lightweight, battery-operated blasting device that the combat engineers used during urban demolition. The device requires a Marine to hold a “charge” button and count-off loudly until the “ready to fire” indicator lights up. At that moment, the breacher will push the “fire” button, igniting the explosion. (U.S. Marine Corps Photo by Cpl. Marcin Platek)
