    The massive U.S. flag that was unfurled over the Pentagon’s damaged wall the day after the 9/11 attacks is presented during an exhibit opening at the Fort Belvoir-located museum, Aug. 28, 2026. Now folded, the flag still bears soot stains from where it rubbed against the building and is currently on display at the Museum as part of the "Steel and Stone: Engineering the Response to 9/11" exhibit, which details how USACE mobilized with speed and purpose to support recovery and help rebuild after tragedy.
