Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station (NCTS) Far East employee, Jun Ishikawa, plays the sanshin at the 54th Annual SRF-JRMC Bon Odori Summer Festival on board Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Aug. 14, 2026. The sanshin is a traditional three-stringed Okinawan musical instrument featuring a snakeskin-covered body and an ebony or wooden neck. The SRF-JRMC Bon Odori Summer Festival has been a mainstay for the command, held annually since 1968. For over 75 years, SRF-JRMC has been the linchpin of U.S. Naval operations in the region by providing intermediate and depot level repair for the ships of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. 7th Fleet.
