A U.S. Marine with 1st Maintenance Battalion, 1st Combat Readiness Regiment, 1st Marine Logistics Group, observes the assembly of a low carbon steel wheel using a Philips Additive Hybrid metal 3D printer during a field exercise on Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Aug. 19, 2026. The FEX focused on increasing proficiency in tactical communication networks, analog processes, field intermediate maintenance and supply operations, as well as refining Marine combat skills in an expeditionary environment in order to prepare for Exercise Steel Knight 27 at the end of the year.
