Several people are moving large tires in a desert/arid environment along a chain-link fence next to an abandoned or deteriorated building with graffiti. The activity appears to be either a cleanup effort or a physical fitness exercise. The setting is dry and sandy with sparse desert vegetation.

U.S. Soldiers assigned to the 2nd Brigade Engineer Battalion, 1st Armored Division, roll recovered tires across the desert terrain to a central staging point during Operation Desert Tread in the Red Sands South area near El Paso, Texas, Aug. 26, 2026. The interagency effort with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office aimed to collect approximately 2,000 illegally dumped tires, clearing public desert land while repurposing the debris as tactical training obstacles on Fort Bliss.
