Oxytropis lambertii, commonly known as purple locoweed, blooms in Buffalo Gap National Grassland, South Dakota, May 13, 2026. It can be found across the mid-plains of North America, from Canada to Texas. This flowering plant can be toxic to livestock and has been controlled in some areas for that reason.
