Various participants highlight the rich military history of the United States at the Iowa State Fair Veterans Day Parade in Des Moines, Iowa, August 17. 2026. Celebrating America's 250th anniversary, the record-breaking event featured roughly 2,000 participants and 110 entries honoring military service members from every U.S. conflict. The Iowa State Fair Veterans Parade is an annual patriotic march held along the Grand Concourse of the fairgrounds to honor veterans and military members. Organized by the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs (IDVA) and the Iowa National Guard, parade is part of the famous Iowa State Fair which dates back to 1854.
