On June 16, 2026, students and staff from Pershing Hill Elementary School gathered in the gym for a surprise farewell for Fort George G. Meade Garrison Commander Col. Yolanda Gore. Staff presented gifts and students presented her with banners. After, Gore gave remarks about her life experiences and told students they can accomplish anything they want to.
