    U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Joel Angulo, the outgoing senior enlisted leader of Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 465, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, is awarded with the Meritorious Service Medal by Lt. Col. Michael Drozd, the commanding officer of HMH-465, during a relief and appointment ceremony on Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, July 31, 2026. The relief and appointment ceremony signifies the transition to new leadership and a continuation of 3rd MAW’s constant preparedness to fight and win. In Angulo’s 24 years of service, he’s received the Meritorious Service Medal (2), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (1), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), and various other Service and Campaign medals.
