U.S. Army Soldiers assigned to 1st Battalion, 77th Field Artillery Regiment (FAR), 41st Field Artillery Brigade (FAB), train alongside Lithuanian (LTU) Soldiers assigned to 1st LTU High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) battery during the LTU Apprenticeship program at Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany, Aug. 17–21, 2026.
The training integrated allied HIMARS personnel into 1-77 FAR’s Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) section certification progression, providing an opportunity to observe crew certification standards and exchange tactics, techniques and procedures. Training included convoy operations, emergency and hangfire procedures, reload operations and dry-fire missions as U.S. crews progressed through Artillery Tables II-V.
Training alongside NATO Allies strengthens readiness, builds interoperability and allows partner formations to share expertise before operating together during larger exercises or real-world missions. The LTU Apprenticeship program provides a foundation for continued integration and the development of future combined rocket artillery training between 41st FAB and allied forces.
