U.S. Marines with Marine Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA) 224, Marine Aircraft Group 31, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, prepare to board CH-53E Super Stallions with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron (HMH) 464, MAG 29, 2nd MAW, in preparation for expeditionary advanced base operations at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, Aug. 4, 2026. The training focused on establishing rapid rearming capabilities in uncontrolled environments, enabling Marines to quickly load ordnance onto F-35B Lightning II aircraft within an uncontrolled area to maintain a lethal and agile forward-deployed presence.
