Sailors receive their 3rd Class Petty Officer rank insignia during the monthly promotion ceremony at Surface Combat Systems Training Command Great Lakes (SCSTC GL). SCSTC GL conducts monthly promotion ceremonies to recognize student Sailors who have successfully completed their required time in rank and graduated their respective “A” School without legal or other disciplinary issues. SCSTC GL trains approximately 3,000 students annually in the ratings that make up the Navy’s Combat Systems Warfighters, preparing Sailors for the technical demands and responsibilities they will face in the Fleet.
