The 6th Ordnance Battalion command team and Chilgok County leaders approach the memorial with white flowers during the Hill 303 Memorial Ceremony.
The 6th Ordnance Battalion and Chilgok County co-host a ROK–US joint tribute ceremony on Aug. 14 honoring the 41 U.S. Soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Korean War at the Hill 303 Memorial within the Korean American Friendship Park near Camp Carroll.
Chilgok County leaders, members of the Korean War Veterans Association, local officials, U.S. Soldiers, and students gathered to commemorate the Hill 303 Massacre of August 17, 1950, in which 41 captured U.S. Soldiers were killed during the early phase of the Korean War.
During the ceremony, Lt. Col. Christopher J. Zimmer, commander of the 6th Ordnance Battalion, emphasized that their sacrifice “was not in vain” and reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the ROK–US Alliance.
