An aerial photograph shows a naval warship at sea with a missile or rocket visibly launched and ascending steeply into the sky, leaving a prominent smoke trail. The ship appears to be a mid-sized naval vessel positioned in the lower-left portion of the frame. The image captures what appears to be a live missile test or combat firing exercise at sea.

The U.S. Navy launched a Trident II D5 missile from the USS Nebraska (SSBN739 - Blue) on Aug. 20, 1993, during Demonstration and Shakedown Operation 11. The USNS Range Sentinel (seen in the foreground) was one of the support ships during DASO 11. The D5 is a three-stage, solid propellant, inertially guided fleet ballistic missile launched underwater from the Ohio-class submarines.
