A view of a secondary expeditionary barrier installed along the southern barrier in Nogales, Arizona, Aug. 12, 2026. The secondary barrier intends to serve as another obstacle to deter illegal crossings in support of U.S. Border Patrol. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
