    Operation Ardent Vanguard   

    U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Brayden Brown, a combat engineer, performs simulated casualty care on Lance Cpl. Gordon Russell, an engineer equipment mechanic, both with the 8th Engineer Support Battalion, Combat Logistics Battalion 7, 1st Marine Logistics Group, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, during their combat lifesaver course at the Border Patrol Station in Naco, Ariz., August 10, 2026. The course prepares service members to earn their Combat Lifesaver certification, ensuring they possess critical, life-saving skills in support of U.S. Border Patrol. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
