U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Logan Perry, a small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS) operator with the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, flies a Skydio X10 Small Unmanned Aircraft System during a demonstration near the U.S.-Mexico border in California, Aug. 5, 2026. The event demonstrates the capability to transmit a live video feed directly from small unmanned aircraft systems to the Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) to enhance ground-based patrol capabilities along the southern border. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
