California Air National Guard Airmen assigned to the 163d Civil Engineer Squadron, March Air Reserve Base, Calif., perform upgrade projects during a deployment for training (DFT) at Seward Military Resort in Seward, Alaska, Aug. 11, 2026. The Aug. 10–24 training cycle is the sixth and final rotation of civil engineer units from across the country that have assisted with the project. Airmen from this rotation are conducting trenching, metal wrapping, electrical work, concrete placement and roofing across four separate structures around the site. Seward Military Resort is a Morale, Welfare and Recreation facility that services U.S. service members and their families. The Airmen assigned to this project are able to assist in both upgrading the facility while also completing deployment training items that prepare them to perform their jobs in an overseas or deployed environment.
