Illinois Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to the 710th Medical Company (Area Support), 108th Medical Battalion, participate in canine casualty-care training led by U.S. Army Reserve Soldiers with the 169th Medical Detachment (Veterinary Services), based at Fort Eisenhower, Georgia, at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center in Grayling, Michigan, Aug. 7, 2026. During the hands-on training, Soldiers practiced assessing canine casualties, controlling bleeding, applying tourniquets and bandages, establishing intravenous access, and preparing injured canines for further treatment or evacuation. The training strengthened the Soldiers’ ability to provide immediate, lifesaving care to military working dogs when veterinary personnel may not be readily available.
