Illinois Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to Bravo Company, 1-106th Aviation Regiment, operate a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter during sling load operations at Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center in Grayling, Michigan, Aug. 7, 2026. Soldiers with the Nashville, Tennessee-based 861st Theater Aerial Delivery unit attach rigged cargo to the helicopter’s cargo hook as Illinois Army National Guard aircrew members monitor the operation from the aircraft. The cargo included personal gear and water for the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, based in Canterbury, England, and the Royal Welsh, based in Cardiff, Wales. The Illinois Army National Guard aircrew transported the supplies to a forward operating base occupied by the two United Kingdom units during the training exercise.
