Christopher Alexander, commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic, awards Senior Chief Aviation Ordnanceman David Hormaza a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal during a visit aboard Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3), Aug. 12, 2026. Kearsarge’s mission is to transport, support, and deploy U.S. Marine Corps forces: enabling sea, land, and air operational capability. An amphibious ready group’s unique abilities give geographic combat commanders a more flexible, agile force, for aggregated or dis-aggregated operations across the globe.
