U.S. Marines with X-Ray Company, Headquarters and Service Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, receive instructions on how to use water rescue throw bags during water egress and rescue training in El Centro, Calif., Aug. 6, 2026. This training, conducted by Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue agents, provided opportunities for service members and civilian partners to coordinate and refine search and rescue capabilities during ongoing military support operations. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
