U.S. Army Soldiers with 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Mobile Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, brief members of the U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) Requirements, Analysis and Resources team, as they observe a Ground-Based Operational Surveillance System-Expeditionary (GBOSS-E) near Sunland Park, New Mexico, Aug. 11, 2026. This engagement allowed the headquarters staff to better evaluate local mission needs and optimize resource allocation in direct support of JTF-SB operations. USNORTHCOM is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
