JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii — Haden Morales, a 22-year-old emergency response dispatcher from Central Oahu, stands ready at his workstation at the Regional Dispatch Center (RDC) on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Morales received the Stork Award, which recognizes Emergency Response Dispatchers who successfully instruct 911 callers through the birthing process until Emergency Medical Services arrive. The RDC is the main Public Safety Answering Point for military bases on Oahu and the Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai, covering over 200 square miles. The RDC handles fire, medical, and police calls for all Department of Defense installations and steps in to support Honolulu's 911 services when needed.
