Vice Adm. Heidi Berg, commander of U.S. Fleet Cyber Command, Navy Space Command and U.S. 10th Fleet, answers a question from the audience following her keynote remarks at the U.S. Naval War College (NWC) Future Warfighting Symposium (FWS) onboard Naval Station Newport, Aug. 6, 2026. The tenth annual FWS welcomed over 400 in-resident students, including officers from all branches of the U.S. armed forces, U.S. federal government agencies, and brought together a broad group of subject matter experts to address topics identified by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as special areas of emphasis, including cyber warfare, space, artificial intelligence and data analysis, and strategic deterrence. Established in 1884, NWC informs today’s decision-makers and educates tomorrow’s leaders by providing educational experiences and learning opportunities that develop their ability to anticipate and prepare strategically for the future, strengthen the foundations of peace, and create a decisive warfighting advantage.
