The 39th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Eric M. Smith, presents Lt. Gen. Roberta Bobbi Shea, former commander of Marine Forces Command, with an American flag and retirement certificate during her retirement ceremony at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., Aug 7., 2026. Lt. Gen. Shea enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1985 and was commissioned in 1991, serving in operational, command, and senior leadership positions throughout her career. She assumed command of Marine Corps Forces Command, Fleet Marine Force Atlantic, and Marine Corps Forces North in August 2024 before retiring after more than four decades of service.
