Rear Adm. Robert Hawkins, commander, Naval Medical Forces Atlantic (NMFL) and director, Defense Health Network (DHN) Atlantic, delivers remarks during a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly renovated Industrial Hygiene headquarters at Naval Support Facility Indian Head, Aug. 4. The project transformed a historic 1918 building—originally constructed as a base firehouse and later used as a chapel—into a modern workspace. This critical transition successfully ends more than 30 years of the industrial hygiene team operating out of a deteriorating and highly deficient temporary trailer, providing staff with a permanent, professional facility to safeguard base personnel and ensure long-term mission success.
