U.S. Army Soldiers work through tactical tasks during a 12-mile ruck march July 23, 2026, at Fort Pickett, Virginia. Soldiers responded to a series of simulated battlefield scenarios, including identifying and reacting to a sniper threat, during the culminating event of a military occupational specialty transition course. The course prepared Soldiers from across the nation to qualify as the 11B infantrymen or 11C indirect fire infantrymen and was taught by cadre assigned to 1st Battalion, 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute.
