U.S. Army Spc. Hayden Reeves‑Whitt engages targets with his M4 Carbine during the Stress Shoot event at the U.S. Army Europe and Africa Best Squad Competition at Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany, July 31, 2026. The Stress Shoot forces Soldiers to fire with precision immediately after high‑output exertion, demanding controlled breathing, disciplined weapon handling and accuracy under elevated heart rates. The event reinforces grit, cohesion and combat readiness as squads compete for the chance to represent U.S. Army Europe and Africa at the Army Best Squad Competition.
Teams from across the command will compete at Grafenwoehr through Aug. 6, 2026, for the title of Best Squad. The competition evaluates squad effectiveness, communication and cohesion, along with each Soldier’s technical and tactical proficiency, endurance and fortitude. Winners will advance to the Army Best Squad Competition, where one noncommissioned officer and one junior Soldier from the top squad will earn the titles of Best NCO and Best Soldier of the Year.
