Christian Alvardo Escobedo, an engineer equipment operator with 8th Engineer Support Battalion, attached to Combat Logistics Battalion 7, 1st Marine Logistics Group, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, operates a bulldozer to conduct vegetation clearance operations in Naco, Ariz., July 28, 2026. This operation denies concealment to suspected illegal aliens and improves U.S. Border Patrol's visibility of the southern border. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
