The crew of the pre-commissioned Fast Response Cutter USCGC Jeffrey Palazzo (WPC 1163) embarks on their first sail alongside Bollinger Shipyard instructors offshore Louisiana on April 14, 2026. This underway period marked the successful completion of seven weeks of crew familiarization training ahead of Ready for Sea evaluations in South Florida. The cutter is named in honor of Petty Officer 1st Class Jeffrey Palazzo, an FDNY firefighter and Coast Guard Reservist who died in the line of duty on September 11, 2001.
