Sgt. 1st Class Jose Arroyo, a motor transport operator assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3678th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, throws a practice hand grenade into a grenade qualification bunker during qualification conducted by the 1st Battalion, 65th Infantry Regiment, at Camp Santiago Joint Training Center, Salinas, Puerto Rico, July 23, 2026. With 31 years of military service, the event marked Arroyo's final grenade qualification before retirement. Grenade qualification validates a Soldier's ability to safely and effectively employ hand grenades while reinforcing individual lethality, confidence and combat readiness.
