UH-60 Black Hawk Rescue Hoist Training

Staff Sgt. James Brundy, a UH-60 Black Hawk crew chief with the Idaho Army National Guard's State Aviation Group, observes the terrain from the aircraft's cabin during a flight to mandatory rescue hoist training near the Sawtooth Mountains, Idaho, July 23, 2026. The mandatory training kept aircrews certified on the rescue hoist system, a critical capability for the State Aviation Group's high-elevation and remote search and rescue missions across Idaho. The Idaho Army National Guard trained year-round and integrated civilian first responders, including the Custer County Sheriff's Office, county search and rescue teams and Air St. Luke's medical transport, to remain ready for technical and difficult missions.
