THOMAS, U.S. VIRIGIN ISLANDS (July 21, 2026) – Quartermaster 3rd Class Aliyah Garnett, from Hartford, Connecticut, operates a telescopic alidade in the pilot house aboard Freedom-variant littoral combat ship USS Cooperstown (LCS 23) as the ship prepares to make port at St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
