U.S. Marines with Combat Logistics Battalion 7, 1st Marine Logistics Group, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, use support poles to lift triple strand concertina wire onto support wire attached to fabricated brackets to reinforce the southern barrier during barrier reinforcement operations in Nogales, Ariz., July 16, 2026. These barrier reinforcement operations help to maintain national readiness and ensure sustained protection and observation capabilities along the southern border. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
