Dillion Buck, a Michigan native and combat videographer with Marine Corps Installations West, set up a Skydio X2D small unmanned aircraft system during a patrol with 9th Communication Battalion, I Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, July 16, 2026. The battalion integrated a patrol with sUAS operations, simulating a realistic scenario for defense against enemy intelligence gathering through reconnaissance, surveillance and signature analysis.
