Civilian contractors continue to place HESCO barriers at National Defense Area 2 near Fort Hancock, Texas, July 17, 2026. The emplacement of these barriers in NDAs is critical to the ongoing barrier reinforcement efforts along the U.S. southern border. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
