Civilian contractors repair a HESCO barrier at National Defense Area 2 near Fort Hancock, Texas, July 14, 2026. The barrier sustained minor damage from a dust devil and is being restored to maintain the integrity of ongoing barrier reinforcement efforts along the U.S. southern border. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
