David Wasierski, the incoming senior enlisted leader of 1st Mobile Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division, assigned to Joint Task Force-Southern Border in support of Operation Ardent Vanguard, passes the unit colors to 1st Sgt. William Melko during an assumption of responsibility ceremony at Libby Army Airfield, Fort Huachuca, Ariz., July 13, 2026. The passing of the colors formally signifies the transfer of leadership and the commitment of the incoming command team to continue ongoing military support operations as part of JTF-SB. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
