Chris Nash, former commander of Submarine Group (COMSUBGRU) 9, and Command Sgt. Maj. Clifford Ockman pose for a photo with U.S. Navy Cmdr. Noah Burnett, commanding officer of Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Louisiana (SSBN 743) Blue Crew, after receiving a governor’s commendation from the state of Louisiana. COMSUBGRU 9 exercises tactical and administrative control authority for assigned submarine commands and units in the Pacific Northwest providing oversight for shipboard training, personnel, supply, and material readiness of SSGNs and their crews. COMSUBGRU 9 is also responsible for nuclear submarines undergoing conversion or overhaul at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton.
