A site supervisor observes assembled and staged HESCO barriers at National Defense Area 2 near Fort Hancock, Texas, July 11, 2026. The barriers were assembled during previous phases of construction and are staged for continued emplacement in support of ongoing barrier reinforcement efforts along the U.S. southern border. U.S. Northern Command is working side-by-side with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection within narrowly defined authorities to provide unique military capabilities to protect the territorial integrity of the U.S. southern border.
