A U.S. Coast Guard assessment team, in coordination with the Commonwealth Ports Authority, gauges typhoon damage in Tinian on July 9, 2026, allowing the Captain of the Port to partially lift restrictions, restoring maritime commerce flow to Tinian on July 10. The U.S. Coast Guard is coordinating with the Port of Guam and the Commonwealth Ports Authority to fully assess the ports, address already identified hazards as well as new issues following Super Typhoon Bavi. Multiple navigational aids are reportedly discrepant, off station, or simply missing. (U.S. Coast Guard photo by Lt. Gabe LaMartina)
